Feather # 174 — Kestrel

“In this piece, I chose to work with the gentle, earthy tones of my hand-made pigment, Rocky Mountain #8, which provides an organic, warm contrast with soft blacks, gentle pinks, and subtle browns. As I painted, I let the brushstrokes flow naturally, with delicate splatters and wisps that create a sense of movement and gentle transitions between shades. My intention was to evoke a sense of grounding and unity with nature, inviting each viewer to find a moment of calm reflection within the soft edges and airy openness of the composition.”  — Shayna, January 2024
